The future for WWE’s Total
Divas looks very promising. WWE fans
love or hate the new series, but it is different than any other reality series
on the market. WWE’s intentions are to
gear the show towards both the wrestling fan and the typical “E!” viewer,
giving them a unique gateway to the mystic of pro
wrestling.
There has never been a reality show based on actor wives’ or
movie star girlfriends. That is why examining
the women of Total Divas has been so successful. It’s not so much about the current stable of
WWE divas as it is about top WWE superstars, their girlfriends and their high
profile lifestyle. The diva division in
the WWE has been considered strong in the past, but that is not the case at
this point. The series revolves around
the Bella sisters, Nicki and Brie and their lives', auditioning
for B-movies, their new cars and their sister drama. The key element to their amusing storyline is
them being conveniently linked to WWE’s top two superstars, John Cena and
Daniel Bryan, who just happen to be wrestling for the WWE championship this
Sunday at SummerSlam.
The other storylines on the reality show are considered background
noise. The only other tag team duo of
divas is the Funkadactyls. The Funkadactyls
consist of Cameron, who made an embarrassment of herself on Tough Enough, 2011 and a young, dedicated Naomi who is dating current WWE
superstar Jimmy Uso. There is also the second-generation
veteran Natalya, who has more in-ring skills than any of the girls, but is
portrayed as the “ugly duckling” on the show.
Aside from the girls that are on the current roster, rookies like JoJo
and Maxim girl, Eva Marie add to the entertainment. Eva Marie has already been caught lying
to WWE authorities several times and has been kept on the show for her
rebellious attitude. With all that said,
the show has done a tremendous job of attracting an audience outside the WWE
Universe, while at the same time encouraging “Mark’s”(WWE fan boys) to tune in
to the hit reality show on" E!"
Total Divas has
been the typical reality show in the not so typical reality environment. Great job to the WWE Creative team in teaming
up with "E!" network to produce this hit series.
It’s a shame this series wasn’t discovered years ago, when the roster
consisted of divas such as Trish Stratus, Torrie Wilson, Sable, Stacy Keibler
and Lita.
